David Scheier is a writer and illustrator who was born in Germany and raised in the South West. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at El Paso in creative writing with a minor in film and a Masters of Fine Arts from the School of Art Institute of Chicago.
Both his illustrated and written work have appeared in The Furious Gazelle, GTK, The State, Spork Press, OVS, Front Porch Journal, Rio Grande Review, Petrichor Machine, Gather Kindling, Meekling Press, Ginger Piglet and other mediums and exhibits.
David Scheier's work acts as unfinished fragments of moments --abstractions and exaggerations of images, adapting music to image, time, character, and other fractured narrative inventions. They are attempts to break down the meaning of an object or symbol to allow the viewer to create a narrative with the snippet they are given. David's work uses techniques common in comic books and graphic art. The panels, speech bubbles, and white space versus inked space are all a story in their own.
